There are two separate families in Iowa: Carl Wilberding, who settled around Dubuque, and his brother, Anton Wilberding, who settled in the area of Breda. I am connected to Carl Wilberding's family. Bernadette A. Wilberding-Pick Obituary

Bernadette Pick -  Dec. 18, 1916 – Dec. 18, 2011

 

Bernadette Pick, 95, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, at the Hendricks Community Hospital.

Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Parish in Lismore, Minn., with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation will precede services at the church Wednesday. Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings is in charge of the arrangements.

Bernadette Agnes (Wilberding) Pick was born Dec. 18, 1916, at Lismore, Minn., to Ben and Agnes (Fehring) Wilberding. She attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School in Lismore. On Feb. 19, 1941, she married Urban Pick in Lismore. The couple farmed near Lismore and moved to a farm near Ivanhoe, Minn. in 1952. They quit farming in 1959, and Urban died in 1973. Bernadette worked for the Marshall Produce for 23 years and then part-time for the Super 8 in Marshall for seven years. She moved with her family to White in 1999.

Bernadette was a member of the Catholic Daughters for 60 years. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo and working in her flower and vegetable gardens.

Survivors include her son, Melvin Pick, of Gibbon, Minn.; daughter, Mary Ann Pick of White; nieces and nephews including a special niece, Rita Pankratz, of Arlington; and a sister-in-law, Dolores Pick, of Worthington, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter, Jane; a son, James; and eight brothers and sisters: Elizabeth, Mary, Rose, Francis, John, Henry, Albert, and Josephine.

Glenn Wilberding, age 82, of Elma, IA died Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at his home in rural Elma.

Glenn Henry Wilberding was born on November 5, 1928 to Anthony and Marie (Vanderah) Wilberding on a farm near Haverhill, IA. Glenn moved with his family in 1942 to a farm near Alta Vista. He attended St. Williams High School in Alta Vista graduating in 1946. He helped on the family farm before joining the US Air Force. After Glenn’s return from the military he was united in marriage to Marie Lechtenberg on June 2, 1953 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, IA. To this union 10 children were born. Glenn and Marie farmed near Alta Vista for 15 years before moving to their present farm one mile north. The couple enjoyed 57 ˝ years of marriage. Glenn also worked as a security guard at Sara Lee in New Hampton for 21 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, tinkering on the farm and playing with his grandchildren. Glenn was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and the Alta Vista VFW Paul Johann Post #4069.

3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 13, 2011 with a 4:00pm rasoary and a 6:00pm scriptural wake service at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma. Visitation will continue at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Service:
10:30 am on Friday, October 14, 2011 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Alta Vista, IA with Father Ray Atwood celebrating.

Cemetery:
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Alta Vista with Stacey Wilberding, Ryan Whalen, Matt Grover, Nick Praska, Joshua Stringer and Matt Wilberding serving as casket bearers. Military rites will be provided by Alta Vista VFW Paul Johann Post #4069.

Robert L. Wilberding Obituary

WATERLOO - Robert L. Wilberding, 68, of Waterloo, died at home Sunday, Sept. 4.

He was born April 16, 1943, in Waterloo, son of Linus and Mary Bortschellor Wilberding. He married Deloris Woore on April 20, 1964, in Waterloo.

Mr. Wilberding was employed with John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 35 years until his retirement.

Survived by: his wife; three daughters, Barbara (Greg) Price of Texas, Susan Marie (Scott) Denniston of Waterloo and Debra L. (William) Rogers of California; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Janice (Jerome) Moore of Arizona, Annette (Bob) Brintle of California and Susan (Martin) Tyler of Waterloo; and a brother, James of Waterloo.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Geraldine Bauer-Wilberding Obituary

Geraldine Wilberding

REMSEN, Iowa -- Geraldine "Gerry" Wilberding, 83, of Remsen died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.

Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, with the Rev. William McCarthy officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be anytime after 2 p.m. today, with a parish rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., all at Fisch Funeral Home and Monument in Remsen. Condolences may be sent online to www.fischfh.com.

Gerry was born May 9, 1928, at rural Cleghorn, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Elizabeth (Glassmaker) Bauer. She was raised in the Maryhill, Iowa area and attended grade school at Visitation Grade School in Maryhill. She graduated from Cleghorn High School in 1947. After high school, she worked for the phone company in Cherokee, Iowa.

On Jan. 24, 1950, she married Alfred Wilberding in Maryhill. The couple made their home on a farm north of Marcus, Iowa, where they lived for 35 years. In 1984, the couple retired from farming and moved into Remsen. In September 2010, they moved to Bavarian Meadows Assisted Living in Remsen. Alfred died on March 25, 2011. She then moved to Happy Siesta Health Care Center on June 30, 2011.

Gerry was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and church guild. She was a past member of the Catholic Daughters of America and hobby club. She loved to make quilts, knit, crochet, do crafts, gardening, play cards and read. She was a wonderful cook!

Survivors include her son, Paul Wilberding and his wife, Joan of Marcus; her daughter, JoAnn Tentinger and her husband, Chuck of Remsen; eight grandchildren, Matt Wilberding and his wife, Ashley of Laramie, Wyo., Katie Cross and her husband, Steve of Denver, Colo., Jessica Wilberding of Iowa City, Iowa and her fiance, Adrian Suarez Delgado, Briana, Abby and Bethany Wilberding of Marcus, Nick Tentinger of Remsen and Amy Tentinger of Omaha; one brother, Vernon Bauer of Cleghorn; three sisters, Bernice Dickson and her husband, Bill of Carroll, Iowa, Dorothy O'Meara of Spencer, Iowa, Alice Speers and her husband, Don of Storm Lake, Iowa; three sisters-in-law, Anne Wilberding of Meriden, Iowa, Helen Flaherty of Le Mars, Iowa, Peg Wilberding of Melrose, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers-in-law, Jim O'Meara, Lawrence and Ray Wilberding, and Leo Flaherty.

Pallbearers will be Nick and Amy Tentinger, Matt and Briana Wilberding, Katie Cross, Jessica Wilberding and Adrian Suarez Delgado.

Raymond F. Wilberding Obituary

Raymond Frances Wilberding, age 81 of Melrose, Iowa, passed away on Sunday May 1, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa following a lengthy illness.
Raymond was born February 3, 1930 in Nobles County, MN, the son of Charles and Mary (Jasper) Wilberding. He moved with his family to Remsen, Iowa when he was one year old. He received his education at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Remsen and spent time helping his father on the family farm. During the Korean Conflict he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany.
On June 20th, 1956 Raymond was united in marriage to Margaret “Peggy” L. Ferris at the Immaculate Conception Church in Cherokee. Raymond’s love of farming continued in Cherokee County for the next 20 years until the summer of 1976 when he moved his family to a farm in rural Monroe County. Raymond continued to farm near Albia until 1986 when he was forced to retire due to poor health. The family then moved in to a house in Melrose, Iowa.
Raymond was an active member of the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association, the V.F.W. in Cherokee, the American Legion in Albia and at all of the Catholic Churches in the areas he lived. Raymond was a lifetime member of the 3rd and 4th degree Knights of Columbus. He loved spending his time with family and loved ones, his many road trips to the mountains, and spending his winters in Southern Texas.
Raymond is survived and loving remembered by his wife Peggy Wilberding of Melrose; three sons Mark Wilberding of Carlisle, Timothy (Helen) Wilberding of Applevalley, MN, and Gerald Wilberding of Port Arthur, TX; two daughters Vicki (Tim) Spurgin of Albia, and Teresa (Mark) Vance of Altoona; his grandchildren Sheena (Preston) Dau, Bret, and Clint Spurgin, Nicole, Abigail, and Andrew Vance, Bryce and Paige Wilberding, and Skyler Wiberding. Raymond is also survived by one sister Helen Flaherty of LeMars; and many other relatives and friends.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary; and two brothers Alfred and Lawrence Wilberding.
An open memorial has been established in Raymond’s name.

Mary Margaret Crawley (nee Petering), 86, beloved wife of the late Charles Crawley, devoted mother of Margie (Jim) Wilson of Mason, David (Sonia) Crawley of Batavia and Steven (Kathy) Crawley of Hamilton, daughter of the late Ralph and Margaret Petering, dear sister of Barbara (Gerald) Miller of Greenhills, Roger (Sue) Petering of Middletown, Ronald (JoAnne) Petering of Beavercreek and the late Bill Petering, loving grandmother of Melissa (Toby) Tripp, David (Melissa) Wilson, Charles (Jenny) Crawley, Michelle Crawley, Michael Crawley, Nicholas Crawley, Leanne Crawley, Benjamin Crawley and Amanda Lesnick, great-grandmother of Matthew, Andrew and Olivia Wilson, Emily and Bradley Tripp and Sam and Owen Crawley and Lucy Leanne Lesnick. Alfred Wilberding Obituary

Alfred J. Wilberding, 89 years old, of Remsen, IA died Friday, March 25, 2011, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars, IA. 

        Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. William McCarthy & Deacon Rick Roder officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation will be anytime after 2 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2011.  There will be a parish rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.

        Alfred was born on Jan. 27, 1922, at rural Remsen, IA the son of Charles & Mary (Jasper) Wilberding.  He was raised and educated in the Remsen, IA & St. Killian, MN area.  After the 8th grade Alfred stayed home to help on the family farm.  He then worked as a carpenter for 3 years.

        On Jan. 24, 1950, he married Geraldine Bauer at Maryhill, IA. The couple made their home on a farm north of Marcus where Alfred began farming for himself.  In 1984 the couple retired from farming and moved into Remsen.  In Sept. 2010 the couple moved to Bavarian Meadows Assisted living in Remsen. 

       Alfred was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus.  Alfred enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, woodworking & gardening.

       Survivors include: his wife Geraldine of Remsen; Paul Wilberding & his wife Joan of Marcus, IA; JoAnn Tentinger & her husband Chuck of Remsen; Eight grandchildren, Matt Wilberding & his wife Ashley of Laramie, WY, Katie Cross & her husband Steve of Denver, CO, Jessica Wilberding of Iowa City, IA, Briana, Abby & Bethany Wilberding of Marcus, IA; Nick Tentinger of Remsen & Amy Tentinger of Omaha, NE;  One sister, Helen Flaharty of LeMars, IA; One brother, Ray Wilberding & his wife Peg of Melrose, IA; Four sisters-in-law, Anne Wilbberding of Meriden, IA, Bernice Dickson & her husband Bill of Carroll, IA, Dorothy O'Meara of Spencer, IA, Alice Speers & her husband Don of Storm Lake, IA; One brother-in-law, Vernon Bauer of Cleghorn, IA.

        Preceded in death by, his parents; One brother, Lawrence Wilberding; Two brothers-in-law, Leo Flaherty & Jim O'Meara.

        Casket bearers will be; Nick & Amy Tentinger, Matt, Ashley, Jessica & Briana Wilberding, Katie & Steve Cross.

        Honorary Bearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus.

Bernadette Schnepf Obituary

Bernadette Schnepf, of Williams, Iowa, died on February 14, 2011 at VanDiest Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Williams. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday night at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williams.

Bernadette Schnepf, daughter of Herman and Frances Wilberding was born on November 21, 1924 in Sioux City, Iowa. She attended school in Remsen, Iowa. She married Bill Schnepf on February 18, 1954 in Remsen. He preceded her in death on January 7, 1993. They lived in Williams since 1978.

She was survived by son Joe of Stanhope, Steven of Minnesota, Peter of Williams, Paul and Theresa of Ankeny, daughter and sons-in-law Mary and Todd Hassebrock of Williams, Carmelita and Pat Halligan of Fort Dodge, Jean and Tony Amosson of Clive and 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband William and grandson Christopher and Jacob Amosson.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williams.
